Sill Protectors |
|
Sometimes subtle changes can offer long term protection for a major investment. Such a change are Sill Protectors. Sill Protectors cover a sizable portion of painted metal where scratches are at high risk. In the first image below, the Sill Protector has not yet been installed. The exposed metal is at risk every time someone gets in and out of the car. It gets scratched by metal or stones caught in the treads of shoes. It can get worn and scuffed by objects being dragged across during loading and unloading. It can also get marred when dropping groceries or tools.
I ordered Sill Protectors for the Tacoma Double Cab from Deland Toyota of Deland, Florida. The eBay auction that they ran had a headline offering Sill protectors for the Tacoma. The Buy-Now auction description described Sill Protectors for the Tundra. This was clarified in an email exchange before purchasing the Sill Protectors. The cost was $34.06 including shipping.
Installation was easy. I thought that the provided instructions made the process sound much harder than it needed to be. To install, I unsnapped the plastic covers that hide wiring. I used a sponge to wipe down each sill with warm water mixed with a little Cascade. I then dried the area with a dry towel, removed the backing on the appropriate Sill Protector and positioned the Protector.
