Tramway - Christchurch
Horse drawn and steam trams operated in Christchurch during the latter portion of the last century. An electric tram service was introduced in 1905 and lasted almost 50 years with service ending in 1954.
In February of 1995, electric Tramway service was reintroduced in Christchurch and has become a significant attraction in the city.
Today, nostalgic rides for two days on a tram cost just $12.50NZ. Children 15 years of age and less ride free with paid adult. Select one of 5 trams; 2 of which have trailers that follow a 2.5 kilometer railed path through Christchurch.
