Skyline Gondola - Queenstown

One of the most visible attractions in Queenstown are the Skyline Gondolas.  From a great distance, the pathway for the gondolas is visibly etched into the side of the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain, the Skyline ticket office offers plenty of ample parking.

Visitors may ride the gondolas up to an observation area and enjoy incredible views of Queenstown.  Optionally, visitors might choose to dine at the Skyline Restaurant or to return from the top riding a family oriented luge.

At left, a family boards one of the gondolas just prior to its climb up the mountain side.

Dining in the Skyline Restaurant on the night of Tuesday, March 8, 2005 was an option scheduled with our APT tour.  Lynn and I chose instead to board the T.S.S. Earnslaw and dine at the Walter Peak High Country Farm.  On Wednesday, Lynn and I walked up to the Skyline ticket office thinking we might ride the Skyline Gondolas up to the observation area.  When we arrived, we discovered that ticket prices were about as steep as the mountain side ($36NZ for 2), so we chose not to go.
