Olveston Historic Home

On the morning of Saturday, March 12, 2005, our APT tour group visited Olveston House a 35 room Jacobean manor furnished extensively with period antiques and art.

Located at 47 Royal Terrace in Dunedin, the home was designed by architect Sir Ernest George (1839-1922) and built circa 1905 for the David Theomin (1852-1933) family.

Visiting the Olveston House is arranged by guided tour only.  Our APT group was split up into smaller groups to tour the home.

Below, is the original David Theomin family 1921 Fiat 510 Tourer.  It was acquired by the Theomin Gallery and it took two years to restore.

At the rear of the home is a greenhouse-conservatory amid garden terraces and an abundance of green and flowers.

Beautiful flowers such as the ones below surround the home.

Up to 40,000 people a year step back into history and tour the Olveston House.

Photography is not permitted inside of the home, but the gift shop provides post cards and guide books such as the 24-page full-color copy shown at right.  The gift shop also offers fine collectibles and art pieces.  The pewter ballerinas shown above were acquired in the Olveston House gift shop.
