Treefrog

June 15, 2004

I don't see treefrogs as often as I might think, but I am fascinated by them each time I do.

Treefrogs have an ability to turn their heads, not just their eyes to look around them.

It is particularly amusing to see them glued to a vertical wall and turn their heads to look back at whatever might be watching them.

They do not hesitate to leap relatively large distances.  If they land on concrete, you hear the same sound as if a saturated sponge was slammed to the pavement.  All you can think is, "That had to hurt!".

This treefrog seemed equally amused at me as I kept trying to focus my camera in the dark so it would look right when the flash went off.  It was not easy and the tree frog remained patient with me between each shot.
