Cuban Treefrog

July 15, 2005

The treefrogs on this page are all very small, only about 1 1/4 inches long as they sit.

We just had ceramic siding applied to our home and the little fellas find it easy to climb the smooth surfaces of the sides of the house with their toes.

Dr. Margaret S. Gunzburger, PhD is a Research Wildlife Biologist at the Florida Integrated Science Center in Gainesville.  She tells me that that the frogs here might be Cuban treefrogs.   She states that Cuban treefrogs are an invasive exotic species, which means that they are not indigenous to Florida.

Humans inadvertently introduced Cuban treefrogs to the Florida landscape in the mid 1900s.  They are found as far north as Gainesville.
