Kitchenette Window Treatment

We enjoy the bay window look of our kitchenette.  The three windows open look out to our lanai and out to Osprey Lake.

Lynn made the shades shown at left.  We found the fabric at a fabric store on our way to North Carolina.

With fabric on hand, we cut them to size and ironed them to a stiff material.  The fused fabrics are then attached and rolled on to a dowel.  Mounting hardware are all part of a kit designed for this application.  More recently, Lynn recovered the chairs with the same fabric.

By doing a lot of home projects ourselves, we found the savings enabled us to consider purchases such as upgrading the sewing machine.  This new Husqvarna sewing machine from JoAnn Fabrics was a nice way to enhance our ability to do even more ourselves.

One of the first projects that the new sewing machine was used was a trio of awnings for the windows in the kitchenette.  We used a pattern in a book and modified the dimensions for our specific needs.

We installed the middle one first to confirm that spacing and dimensions would offer the look we intended.

With all three installed, we like the finished look.
